How to understand existing certifications?

Beyond certification labels which provide information on specific farming or breeding approaches (Organic, HVE, Label Rouge, Bleu Blanc Coeur, etc.) and geographical origins (PAO, CAO, etc.), new initiatives are arising to help consumers choose their food in supermarkets.

Following the successful implementation of Nutriscore on packaging and its use by many consumers, new approaches are aiming to stand out and go beyond merely providing nutritional information.

Initiatives such as Eco-score, Planet-score, Franco-score, etc., are all potential new references in terms of consumer information.

However, this proliferation causes more and more questions on the part consumers, even those who are well informed, regarding these new stakeholders in the field (whether private or sector actors, or distributors, etc.) who are all attempting to recruit brands to their scheme.

Furthermore, it may be hard to understand exactly what data and calculations justify the results that are displayed on any given product.

Of course, it would be out of the question to print all these labels on every product, as consumers would be entirely lost!

Therefore, we invite you to come along on an investigation:
